Tatsugiri has officially joined Pokémon Go as part of the ongoing Water Festival 2025 event, bringing new opportunities and challenges for players. The Water Festival runs through Sunday, July 20, ending at 8 p.m. local time.
Trainers can encounter Tatsugiri exclusively in one-star Raids during the event. Despite its low difficulty level, each encounter yields only one of three available Tatsugiri forms, based on geographical region.
There are three forms of Tatsugiri in Pokémon Go: Curly, Droopy, and Stretchy. Each form is limited to a specific region:
* Curly Form: Americas
* Droopy Form: Europe, Middle East, and Africa
* Stretchy Form: Asia-Pacific
Players looking to collect all three will need to engage in Remote Raids hosted by players from other regions or arrange in-person trades. Trading requires both players to be within 100 meters of each other.
Remote Raid Passes offer the most efficient route for obtaining all forms during the event, especially for trainers without access to international travel or local trading partners.
A Shiny variant of Tatsugiri is not part of this release. Niantic typically reserves Shiny debuts for future themed events or seasonal updates. As a result, trainers will have to wait for a Shiny Tatsugiri to become available in a later phase of the game.
While Tatsugiri draws attention, the event also increases spawn rates for several Water-type Pokémon. Trainers have heightened chances to encounter Shiny versions of Staryu, Tirtouga, and Lapras, with some Lapras wearing event-exclusive scarves.
